“The Boys of Bedford” is a proof-of-concept film that will be used to pitch a mini-series about the full story. All contributions will go towards the making of the film to make this true story come to life!
SYNOPSIS
The looming prospect of WW2 overtook a group of 34 young men in small-town America as they struggled to maintain a grip on their idyllic world while being thrust into a world at war.
23 of them would never return.
The quaint town of Bedford, Virginia sent 34 of her sons to join the mass of young men needed to fight the Axis powers. They rose to the challenge with the same grit and optimism they brought to the difficulties of life in Bedford, which for all its small-town charm, had suffered greatly during the Great Depression.
In time, they were chosen to help spearhead the invasion of Normandy. Of the 34 Bedford boys sent to Europe, 23 were buried there. Bedford suffered America’s highest per capita D-Day loss of life.
MISSION
“The Boys of Bedford” proof-of-concept film will be shown to producers and investors for the purpose of eventually making a 10-episode mini-series about the story. This will allow us to fully explore the incredible sacrifices made by these men and their community, representing all of small town America at that time. The short film will be a snapshot of the world they left behind, capturing both the look and feel of the miniseries we imagine.
This isn’t just a film—it’s a chance to share a story from our past that still resonates today.
